Slightly North of Broad’s Shrimp and Grits

By kmorganmoss • Oct 5th, 2008 • Category: Seafood & Fish

It would ruin the fun if I gave away the surprise as to what I am up to this week. But in preparation I am going to try making Shrimp and Grits at home and this is the recipe that I will give my hand to first. At the top of the list for Southern [...]

Cornmeal Crab Puffs

Even though I am not opposed to family or guests eating and running-especially when they run satisfied and content. I on the other hand, don’t feel good about eating and running. But another busy week has left me short on time and I must eat and run today.

Frankly, this is a good eat and run [...]

Pickled Shrimp a Low Country Classic

By kmorganmoss • Aug 31st, 2008 • Category: Seafood & Fish, Tidbits & Noshings

Low Country food classics would most definitely include a recipe for Pickled Shrimp at the forefront. Shrimp are in abundance in our waters and many Southerners catch their own shrimp when shrimping season opens. This is not your typical hamburger or hot dog needed to celebrate Labor Day. Though I adore a good burger- I’ll [...]

Salmon Croquettes made with Wild Alaskan Salmon

By kmorganmoss • Aug 2nd, 2008 • Category: Seafood & Fish

First I loose the photos of the Salmon Croquettes. Then I find the missing CD with the images. Then I finish my post; upload the not so good Salmon images (you try to take good photos while people are grabbing the plate from your hand, not so easy). Then I finish the post minus the [...]

Breakfast Shrimp for Supper

By kmorganmoss • Jul 9th, 2008 • Category: Grace Notes, Seafood & Fish

This post has been a long time coming this week. I have a new daily schedule which includes 8 to 10 hours at a new job. Despite my petitions to the Office Angel in Heaven after the Gingerbread Lady passover, apparently my file has been put in another folder, mis-filed again or simply overlooked. [...]

Mom’s Clam Bar- Clams Casino, Clam Fritters & Clam Chowder

By kmorganmoss • Jun 29th, 2008 • Category: Seafood & Fish, Soups

This was our last meal together while on holiday. I think of this as a Northern meal when in fact we spent summers clamming in North Carolina. Of course, I saved the best meal for last. I think clams might be my favorite food if I had to choose; though I hope I never have [...]

Grilled Alaskan Salmon

By kmorganmoss • Jun 16th, 2008 • Category: Seafood & Fish

We arrived safely at our destination: Connecticut. After making the decision to drive straight through, our time of arrival was 1 a.m. It was a 17-hour trip, but we managed to avoid all but a hour snafu during rush hour around DC. We were exhausted, but an ice coffee perked us up and we [...]

Some Really GOOD Southern Sandwiches on White Bread with Arugula Herb Mayonnaise

By kmorganmoss • May 7th, 2008 • Category: Bread, Chicken & Meat, Eggs & Cheese, Seafood & Fish

The best food that comes out of a hot oven is homemade bread. Well maybe not the best, rather a tie between all my oven favorites. Choosing a favorite would be just too hard as I like bread period-they all have their place in the kitchen and at the table. I grew up eating only [...]

Honestly Good Crab Cakes with Lemon Glazed Sweet Potatoes

By kmorganmoss • May 4th, 2008 • Category: Seafood & Fish, Vegetables & Sides

It is quite probable that every seafood shack or fine restaurant from the Maryland Coast headed South to the tip of Florida claims to make a GOOD crab cake or the BEST crab cake. I have been lead down the path of trusting a waiters recommendation only to be disappointed far too many times.
This is [...]
